Today’s Advice
SATIN SNAKE (7f Hcap) Adrian Keatley’s likeable 4yo gelding switches from Turf back to his favourite C&D in today’s (4.35) Kempton. Last time out he ran an admirable race over the mile at Ripon just failing by a neck under a welter burden of 10st 3lbs when not getting a clear run during the race. With three C&D wins already under his belt this season, and two places from today’s handicap mark of (74) a solid run is expected. Last year’s Champion Apprentice jockey Benoit De La Sayette takes the ride for the first time, and hopefully they can form a winning partnership.
BOASTED (8f Hcap) Kevin Frost has shown in the past that he is more than capable of causing an upset with some decent priced horses running well following a break. Peruvian Summer 9/1 (282 days), Reaction Time 9/1 (420 days), and Fiftyshadesofred 14/1 (257 days) are three winners that show up on the database along with a few placed ones, notably Moonshine Mo 125/1 (354 days) in 2020. Boasted runs in today’s (5.10) Kempton and the speed figures can be worth noting for pinpointing certain big priced horses before their ability becomes apparent. Past examples this season that fall into the same category that this column recommended include No Hassle (20/1), Nivelle’s Magic (20/1), and She’s A Novelty (22/1). The daughter of Showcasing’s last effort was in a race that was run 4L faster than Par behind multiple AW winner Thomas Equinas (105), recording a time that showed a handicap rating in the mid 40’s should see her remain competitive going forward. It may well be that her last effort was just a flash in the pan, as she has yet to show consistency, but as the outsider of the field today she may just be a bit overpriced.
