1pt e/way Shoot To Kill (102) – A decent performance from Darragh Keenan’s mount who was able to get across from his wide draw and make most of the running before being collared inside the final furlong. The overall time was similar to his past efforts over C&D, but it looks like he is a much better horse on the Polytrack at Lingfield. Result 3rd 12/1 adv….10/1 SP
Today’s Advice
My Sand Boy (7f Hcap) – This lightly raced gelding showed his first glimmer of hope over C&D when keeping on into fifth place behind Thomas Equinas in August. A disappointing effort followed on Tapeta, before a career best (102) back over C&D lto behind Kodi Noir. The handicapper has left him untouched from a handicap mark of (46) for today’s (5.30) Chelmsford. On that occasion the son of Procunsul raced in midfield, and had to be switched to get a clear run at the business end, before keeping on nicely. Today’s favourite Bluebells Boy finished just 1/2 length ahead of him, and at a double figure price the selection looks a bit overpriced from a nice draw in stall (2) with Luke Morris on board. It may be a case that the horse doesn’t like to go through gaps, but at the price on offer it will be worth finding out.
Swing To The Stars (10f Hcap) – This Ian Williams trained filly finished fifth beaten just 1 1/2 lengths last week in a race that was run 6 lengths faster than Par over C&D. Remarkably, she is due to go down 1lb in the future for this career best effort, and connections are happy to let her take her chance from the same handicap mark for tonight’s (8.30) Chelmsford. She has performed well in the past when backing up just 10 days after finishing runner-up at Nottingham in June. David Egan is back on board having ridden her on her career debut over the mile at tonight’s venue. As a hold up horse connections will be hoping for a decent pace from prominent racers Lunar Space, The Bay Warrior and Tio Mio.
