1pt e/way Running Star (100) – An unlucky defeat for the selection who was given another educational ride. The defining moment of the race occurred two furlongs out when jockey Callum Shepherd made a race move around the outside of David Probert in order to get first run on Elladonna. Unfortunately, David decided to sit where he was, and stay inside all the way to the line. In the end he didn’t get the clearest of runs behind Elladonna, and came up a nose short on the line under a hands and heels ride. Awareness is a key part of race riding, especially at the business end of races, and on this occasion connections may feel that with a bit of luck a different result could have been achieved.
