Yesterday’s Review
1pt e/way Charencey (95) – A 13 lengths per mile slower performance than his previous win at the track. Jockey Paddy Mathers reported that the gelding lost his action.
1pt e/way Panama City (97) – A 4 lengths per mile slower performance than his C&D win last time out. It looked like he was racing too keen in the early stages. Result 3rd 11/2 adv…9/2 SP.
Today’s Advice
Letmelivemylife (7f 36y Hcap) – A step up in trip should be a massive help for this horse in tonight’s (6.00) Wolverhampton considering his five career wins have all come over the 7 furlong distance. The handicapper has kindly left him unchanged since his third place finish when recording a career best (114) speed figure behind Priscilla’s Wish at Chelmsford (a race that has yielded six wins since). He caught the eye last time out over an inadequate 6 furlongs when not getting a clear run behind Cuban Breeze at Chelmsford and was only beaten 1 1/4 lengths. Two C&D wins show his ability to handle tonight’s conditions, and jockey Joshua Bryan takes the mount once again. A decent pace should be provided by prominent racers Love De Vega, Johnny James and Leap Abroad which would be an added bonus for this hold up performer.
Haziym (6f Hcap) – The Tony Carroll stable has been in decent form recently recording 7 winners in the past 34 days including a double at Southwell on Thursday. This 4yo recorded a career best (107) speed figure lto over C&D when racing prominently and just being caught in the last strides after leading five furlongs out. Placed in a Group 3 when trained in France as a 3yo last season, it looks like he has now reached a handicap mark that he can be competitive off following a string of unplaced efforts. Dickieburd looks the main threat from a pace angle, and hopefully jockey Tom Eaves can get the best out of the son of Lope De Vega.
Way Of Life (12f 51y Hcap) – This 5yo has been performing with credit over this C&D recently, and has finished in the first three places his last four attempts. He has been improving on the clock as well, and he looks a little overpriced for tonight’s (8.30) Wolverhampton. There looks to be a bit of pace for him to aim at tonight, and hopefully jockey Rob Hornby can find a nice position in behind the pace from stall seven.
