Today’s Advice
Via Blanca (5f Nursery) – This 2yo filly performed with credit lto at Lingfield over the minimum trip, and if she can mainatain her consistency she should be involved in the finish for today’s (5.00) Chelmsford. Despite wearing various accoutrements to keep her mind on the job, she has plenty of ability and could find herself in the winner’s enclosure very soon. She was denied a clear run in the home straight behind The Liegeman on her most recent start, and stuck to her task admirably in the finish. Apprentice Ryan Kavanagh showed great patience that day, and retains the ride today.
Swing To The Stars & Bay Of Naples (11f 23y Hcap) – Swing To The Stars endured a wide trip lto at Chelmsford and will need to find a better position in tonight’s (6.15) Southwell. There is no doubt she is well handicapped at the moment, but there is a slight question mark regarding her ability on Tapeta. Her two top performances have come on polytrack at Chelmsford, and for this reason a smaller stake is put forward on this surface. Bay Of Naples has no such question marks at this venue with plenty of course form. His most recent effort behind Brunello Breeze at Newcastle has been boosted by the runner-up Blue Hawaii since. A 49 day break does temper enthusiasm, but he has gone well fresh in the past. Now racing from a handicap mark of 59 he really should be getting into the winner’s enclosure very soon.
Alafdhal (6f Hcap) – This 5yo has been in the doldrums since finishing third off a handicap mark of 78 at Lingfield in March. However, a (104) speed figure lto over C&D when having to be switched for his run in the home straight behind Ultramarine was a return to form on the clock. The handicapper has kindly dropped him another 3lbs, and if he can race less keenly tonight he may outrun his market odds.
