Starsoftheclock Friday 22nd December 2023 Selections and Review

Yesterday’s Review

1pt e/way Via Blanca (104) – A huge step forward for this filly on the clock, and she took this field apart. Will be interesting to see what she can do with an even better draw going forward. Result 1st 9/2 adv…5/1 SP

0.5pt e/way Swing To The Stars (100) – A decent performance from the selection on a new track for her. Kieran O’Neill did very well to get a position from stall eleven. She should be seen to better effect back at Chelmsford. Result 4th 13/2 adv…5/1 SP.

0.75pt e/way Bay Of Naples (101) – A solid effort from this 7yo who only found the improving favourite too strong. He should be winning a Class 6 race soon. Result 2nd 12/1 adv…14/1 SP.

1pt e/way Alafdhal (97) – A very disappointing performance from this 5yo who missed the break slightly before racing prominently with Thank The Lord. He appeared to race awkwardly when coming under pressure in the home straight before weakening tamely. Not the same performance as last time.

Today’s Advice

Little Keilee (7f Hcap) – Things haven’t been falling right for this filly recently, and conditions for today’s (5.30) Dundalk are not ideal either. For the third time in a row she has drawn stall 12, and ideally she would like a decent pace to aim at over a mile. However, a lot of her main rivals have wide draws as well, and she is worth following as she looks well treated off a handicap mark of 69. Ideally a decent pace would help her cause tonight, and even though this doesn’t appear guaranteed on paper she still deserves a small interest.

Sea Chariot (8f Hcap) – This 3yo gelding was impressive when coming off the pace to record a (107) speed figure under the welter burden of 10st 2lbs two runs back over tonight’s C&D following an 88 day break. It may be worth allowing him his last effort when dropped back to 7f just 16 days later. There appears to be pace in tonight’s race with the likes of Brains and Exquisite Acclaim likely to go forward. If he can reproduce his second last effort he may look a bit overpriced in tonight’s market.

Blackstone Cliff (12f Hcap) – This 7yo may appear not to stay tonight’s 12f trip when quickly glancing at his form. However, he has had very few opportunities when race fit to show his best over tonight’s distance. A reproduction of his form from last December over the extended ten furlongs would definitely not see him put in as the outsider of the (7.00) Dundalk. It looks like connections have been patient with him this season, and I would be willing to allow him last effort over a distance that wouldn’t have shown him in the best light. It could be that he is not in the same form as last season but at a double figure price I am willing to have a small interest.
