Today’s Advice

L’Eagle Aid (8f 142y Novice) – This Charlie Johnston trained 2yo was noted making good late headway when last seen at Lingfield behind Dashing Darcey over the mile under Franny Norton. Jack Mitchell takes over the ride in tonight’s (7.00) Wolverhampton, and it may be worth taking a chance on the gelding’s ability to handle the Tapeta surface. Sire Free Eagle has already had plenty of winners and placed horses on tonight’s surface, and the market looks to have him a bit overpriced for tonight’s contest considering his closing sectionals were very similar to the winner’s last time out.

Advantage (8f 142y Hcap) – This 3yo looks to have started his handicapping career at the right end of the scale when he opened his account from a mark of 53 over this C&D last time out from a wide draw. On that occasion he showed a decent turn of foot, whilst wearing first time cheekpieces, to race clear of Pallas Lord when coming home 1 3/4 lengths to the good. A better draw for tonight’s (7.30) Wolverhampton has been secured, and it will be a surprise if this well bred gelding cannot return to the winner’s enclosure despite the 6lb penalty.

Snooze Lane (9f 104y Hcap) – This 4yo hinted at a return to form when hitting the frame lto over the extended mile at tonight’s venue behind Min Till. The handicapper has dropped him another pound to a mark of 61 for tonight’s (8.00) Wolverhampton, and although this is a step up in class a few of his rivals at the head of the market are currently struggling to visit the winner’s enclosure. The selection endured a wide trip lto under tonight’s pilot Gina Mangan, and a kinder draw in stall six should result in a better trip. The lightly raced gelding has reached a high of 67 in the handicap previously, and it shouldn’t be long before he is back in winning form.

Gustav Graves (5f 21y Hcap) – Everything went wrong for this 5yo last time out over C&D when failing by a neck to get the better of the Richard Price trained Rhubarb. Despite a decent draw in stall three that day, the selection was away from the stalls too tardily and found himself in a poor position early on. By the time he navigated his way through the opposition he had too much ground to make up on the winner. Drawn in stall three again for tonight’s (8.30) Wolverhampton it is hoped that excellent jockey Joanna Mason can encourage a better break from the stalls, and the gelding can finally get his head in front again.
