Yesterday’s Review

0.5pt e/way Blackstone Cliff (94) – A minimum stake due to the draw, but James Ryan did very well to get across from the outside stall to obtain an uncontested lead after the first turn. However, what he did next was hard to watch setting ridiculous fractions to set the race up for the opposition. A race finish of (100%) told the story, and this is a performance to put a line through. At no stage during the race did the jockey give the horse a breather or save anything for the finish. The only positive thing one can say is that he is still learning his trade. Connections would be well advised to go with a professional pilot going forward as the horse can race exuberantly.

0.75pt e/way Budding (84) – A disappointing display from the selection who broke slowly, and was pushed along to race four wide in contesting the lead with Jaunty Dancer. The response in the final furlong when asked to respond was very limited. A big step back from her last effort.

0.75pt e/way Khathak (97) – Not the race set-up expected for the selection who had to make his own running. He will be better off with a decent pace to aim at going forward. However, his response when put under pressure is very limited and connections will need to find a weak race for him to get his head in front.
