Starsoftheclock Friday 15th March 2024 Selections and Review

15th March, 2024 @ 10:33am

Yesterday’s Review

0.5pt e/way Fil Dor (109) – The selection couldn’t meet the standard required for this test coming home a well beaten seventh place. A drop back to two miles at a lower level would look to seem him in a better light.

0.5pt e/way Buddy One (114) – A better display from the selection who appreciated the stronger pace back at one of his favourite tracks. He travelled nicely into the race, and may have have gone even closer with a stronger pace.  Result 4th 50/1 adv…40/1 SP.

1pt win Theatre Man (Fell) – Another selection not getting very far over fences falling at the third.

Today’s Advice

Corach Rambler & Nassalam (3M 2F 70Y Gold Cup) – Corach Rambler showed his class last Spring when taking both the Ultima and Grand National in a 42 day spell. Connections have aimed him at this race this year on the way to another tilt at National Hunt’s grand prize, and he looks worth a sporting interest against a solid short priced favourite in Galopin Des Champs. His last effort behind course specialist Royal Pagaille at Haydock was very strong on the clock, and the stiffer test at today’s venue should play even more to his strengths. Everything looks in place for another solid display at this track under regular pilot Derek Fox. With the ground advertised as Soft (Heavy In Places) on the Chase Course for today it may be worth having a saver on the Gray Moore trained mudlark Nassalam. He showed he is a force to be reckoned with when conditions are on the testing side with a dominant display in the Welsh Grand National. Conditions may not be as bad today, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he enjoyed the ground better than a lot of today’s rivals.

Spirit Of Paradise (12F Hcap) – This four-year-old’s form ties in well with paper favourite Highland King for tonight’s (6.20) Dundalk. She performed very well last time out finishing fourth, just behind tonight’s favourite, over the extended ten furlongs at this track. On that occasion she was poorly drawn in stall sixteen, and had to take up a position further back than ideal. She kept on well at the business end of the race, and looks worth a try over tonight’s longer trip. At twice the price of the favourite, she looks worth an interest.

Bailey’s Warrior (13F 219Y Hcap) – This six-year-old mare has been performing very consistently lately, and a 2lb rise in the handicap for a convincing win last time out might not be enough to stop her going close again in tonight’s (8.00) Wolverhampton. Her form has taken a big rise since last December when she first bumped into multiple winner The Craftymaster at this venue. She hasn’t been out of the first four since, and she looks a little bit overpriced for tonight’s contest. She can race keenly, and likes to get on with things, so the presence of Stolen Encounter and Winklevi in tonight’s race should help her cause.
