Starsoftheclock Sunday 31st March 2024 Selections and Review

Yesterday’s Review

0.5pt e/way Walk Of Stars (108) – I was hoping the selection would take a lead from the two out and out front runners Saudi Crown and Isolate, and pick them up at the finish. Unfortunately, the selection was ridden a bit too close to the front runner Isolate, and was ridden so far forward that Saudi Crown couldn’t get across to lead. In the end he was collared at the finish by a horse who was ridden with more restraint, but ran an excellent race over the shorter trip. Result 2nd 12/1 adv…9/1 SP.

0.75pt e/way Siskany (114) – A solid enough effort from the selection who raced keenly throughout. The winner Tower Of London (116) reproduced his most recent effort from Riyadh, and looks an interesting prospect for the season ahead. Result 4th 11/2 adv…4/1 SP.

1pt win Ramiro (108) – The selection couldn’t reproduce his effort from Naas finishing behind Sirjack Thomas (111) this time. It may have come a bit soon for him despite being backed in from 9/2 into 2/1F.

0.5pt e/way Berkshire Phantom (99) – As I said in the write-up, with pace in the race on paper it looked like the best tactics would be to drop in from a wide draw in stall nine. As it turned out Paddy Mathers saw fit to ride the horse aggressively forward at the start, and was left in no-man’s land with a three wide trip. A performance to put a line through, and very poor tactics from connections.

Today’s Advice

Written Broadcast (7f 14y) – This seven-year-old has shown enough in his last two performances on the clock that he looks ready to win soon from his handicap mark of 48. He was unlucky not to get his head in front last time out over course and distance when collared near the line by a horse ridden on the opposite side of the track. He will have to be ridden with restraint from stall eleven in today’s (4.25) Southwell, and there should be plenty of pace on for him with Asmund, Atrafan and Twilight Jazz in the line-up.

0.75pt e/way Written Broadcast (10/1 William Hill, 9/1 General 4 places) 4.25 Southwell
