0.75pt e/way Darkness (104) – The selection failed to reproduce his latest winning effort over course and distance recording a figure five lengths per mile slower. The only positive was that he managed to finish in the places. Result 5th 18/1 adv….14/1 SP.
1pt e/way Spaceport (85) – The selection got his own way out in front, as predicted, and was given a decent ride by Lewis Edmunds stacking the runners up in behind. He managed to hit the frame coming home in fourth, but lacked the resilience of the first three home. Result 4th 15/2 adv….(Rule 4 10p)…7/1 SP.
0.5pt e/way Starshiba (94) – The selection had every chance, but found very little for pressure. He is a very difficult horse to get a winning tune out of. It was nice to see Dembe (95) performing well in fifth place over a trip far too short.
2pts e/way Imperial Miss (88) – A shocking performance from the selection who recorded a ten lengths per mile inferior performance to the one she put up at Limerick. Unfortunately, I got the points wrong on this one, and had a rush of blood to the head when I saw 33/1…… I did like the winner Doctor Grace (103) in the race as the solid option, however, the price was being cut into 4/1 as I was putting the article together and wrongly left him alone.
Today’s Advice
Affirm (1400m Hcap) – This front-running four-year-old has been getting caught in the last fifty yards of his races over course and distance, and looks to break his maiden tag in the (11.30) Sha Tin. He has been beaten a neck twice back in February and March and recorded his best speed figure (105) behind Super Goldi two runs back. He performed well from a wide draw in stall ten last time out, following an eighty five day break, just beaten a length by Super Bonus over the 1200m trip. A kind draw in stall three, and an uncontested lead again today, will give him every chance of finding the winner’s enclosure for the first time. The short priced favourite Brilliant Express has been well found by the market, and his supporters will be hoping that he can maintain his progress now stepping up in trip.
