Today’s Advice
Albegone (5f Hcap) – Soft ground conditions for today’s (2.50) Catterick should favour this six-year-old gelding who has plenty of winning form when the mud is flying. With three course and distance wins under his belt, and sitting two pounds below his last winning handicap mark he warrants an interest for today’s contest.
Highjacked (5f 212y Hcap) – This John Davies’ trained eight-year old has been showing his well-being this summer with two second place finishes from his last three finishes. With plenty of form under today’s conditions he looks to have an excellent chance to go one place better in today’s (4.22) Catterick. He races just two pounds higher in the handicap than his win over course and distance in April. We will be hoping jockey David Nolan finds a decent position from his draw in stall nine.
Avondale & Rockview Roman (12f Hcap) – This son of Gleneagles won nicely last time out by just over a length at Roscommon on Heavy ground when recording his first career victory. While conditions are not as slow for tonight’s (6.45) Galway with the ground described as Yielding, he may be worth chancing that he can be just as effective on tonight’s surface. The winning time puts him up at the top of the list for tonight’s contestants and he has been kindly drawn in stall six for his prominent racing style. A six pound rise in the weights may not be enough to prevent him from going in again. Rockview Roman is a three-time winner who has been performing well over hurdles lately and whose last win came over the extended nine furlongs at Gowran Park. At his best with a bit of ease in the ground and two pounds below his last winning mark he looks a little overpriced as the outsider of the field. He has enough form over tonight’s trip to warrant an interest, although his apprentice will have to find a decent position from stall seventeen.
Petra Celera (7f 14y Hcap) – This three-year-old appears to be in the form of her life recently with two wins from her last three races. With course form under her belt from last winter she should be well at home for tonight’s (7.30) Newcastle. As a hold-up performer we will be hoping for a decent pace to aim at from prominent racers such as Rascal Recknell, Inner Temple and Havana Rose.
