Yesterday’s Review
0.75pt e/way Alfalfa (103) – Another solid effort on the clock, but the selection should have at least been placed. Jockey Wayne Hassett who has been riding very well this season, couldn’t get a clear run through in the home straight, and was making up ground at the finish to miss the frame by half a length. A return to twelve furlongs should see him in a better light. Unlucky.
0.5pt e/way Rockley Point (78) – This was poor form cycle awareness from myself. The selection, who should have been up there with third placed Stallone on form, ran no sort of race finishing last beaten over seven lengths. He had given everything he had running twice in three days eighteen days ago. Trainer Katie Scott could offer no explanation for the poor performance when interviewed by the raceday stewards.
0.5pt e/way Million Thanks (90) – The selection took a step back from his most recent effort, and I was asking too much of him judging by his overall consistency. Having raced in touch with the leaders Kaiya Fraser’s mount weakened tamely when asked to quicken over a furlong out.
0.5pt e/way Galel (97) – One that I should have left off the ticket on account of price. The selection was gambled on overnight, and the morning prices were too short for my ways. She had been unlucky at Wolverhampton, but she looks far from a winner waiting to happen.
Today’s Advice
Bhean Saibhre (14f Hcap) – The step up in distance for today’s (5.25) Navan should see the selection perform better than her most recent effort over ten furlongs at this venue. She was put up by this column at Roscommon over the extended twelve furlongs two runs back, and finished with a wet sail to hit the frame having looked like she would be well beaten before the home straight. The dam Island Odyssey was a twelve furlong winner herself and has bred Mister Watson a two mile four furlong 120 rated National Hunt horse. She looks the right price for a speculative interest in a low grade contest like this. Dangers include Charlie Darling who would have been close to being a selection, but I will let him have his third run in thirteen days, Believe In Science who will be having his first run in ninety days, and recent Dundalk winner Lady Kai who has been well found by the market.
