Yesterday’s Review
Cerulean Summer (88) – The slowest race on the card with the two clear leaders Harbour Vision (93) and Just Typical (95) finishing in the first three. A race not run to suit the selection, who didn’t appreciate the drop back in trip, and had an off-day as well.
Suanni (93) – The selection was another one to have an off-day, and he couldn’t bounce back to his previous course and distance best weakening badly inside the final furlong.
Today’s Advice
Calibos (7f 36y Nursery) – This Richard Fahey trained juvenile has been progressing on the clock throughout his three career races. His most recent effort at Redcar in a Class 4 Novice reads well for today’s drop in class for the (3.56) Wolverhampton. The third home that day has won again since, and while the selection has yet to run on the all-weather he looks worth a speculative interest at the prices on offer. It is interesting that his dam Falling Angel has bred a course winner in Hopeman Harbour.
Distillate (7f Hcap) – The (6.00) Dundalk looks a competitive (47-70) handicap as usual for the track, and there are plenty of contestants in it that if they were at their best would be interesting. Marble Angel, Free Solo and Storm Eric are a few that would fall into this category. The selection has been performing consistently on the clock, and will appreciate the return to today’s distance having raced over the minimum trip the last twice. She showed great determination to win at Cork over today’s distance in September, and a reproduction of her fourth place behind Prisoner’s Dilemma (when not getting the clearest of runs) over tonight’s course and distance should see her in the mix at the business end of the race.
Star Of Lady M (5f Gp3) – This David O’Meara trained four-year-old filly has proven a revelation this season, and has risen thirty six pounds in the handicap ratings since her seasonal debut back in January. She has shown that she is effective on both Turf and the All-Weather with big performances on the clock. She recorded a (114) speed figure at Lingfield over the minimum trip when coming home late to win by a neck in a Class 4 back in April. Another four wins have been put on the board since, and her recent performances at York and Ayr have shown that she is really thriving at the moment. She has won from the front and rear this season, so hopefully she can continue her fine form in what looks a very competitive heat for tonight’s (7.30) Dundalk. Dangers include the favourite Electric Storm who was just pipped in a Group 3 race at Longchamp last time out, and Albasheer who will appreciate a strong pace and has very decent figures on the clock from Newcastle.
