Today’s Advice

Spirit Of Applause (4f 214y Hcap) – This four-year-old had dropped eighteen pounds in the handicap before winning at Beverley in August, and has shown a real liking for the all-weather since switched to it for the first time last month. He appreciated the drop back to the minimum trip fifteen days ago when coming home a neck to the good over Zuffolo at Newcastle. On that occasion he was held up in rear before making headway over a furlong out and getting on top inside the final furlong. Two recent placed efforts over six furlongs at this venue have shown his ability to handle the surface for tonight’s (8.00) Southwell. It may well be that he would prefer a stiffer finish than what tonight’s course offers, so we will be hoping for a decent pace from Juicy and Paddy’s Day for him to aim at. He looks worth an interest at the current prices from just a three pound higher handicap mark than last time out seeing as he is in such good form.
