Today’s Advice

Basholo (5f 21y Hcap) – This Stella Barclay trained mare was given a 159 day break after her seventh place finish over course and distance in May. Since then she has performed very well with two third place finishes also over course and distance. She has won three times over course and distance in her career, and her most recent effort under today’s jockey Zak Wheatley from today’s handicap mark showed that she can be competitive from this mark. On that occasion under snowy conditions she raced prominently, took up the running inside the final furlong and just got collared towards the line. A reproduction of that effort should see her go close again in today’s (4.15) Wolverhampton.

One Night Stand (5f 21y Hcap) – The return to five furlongs should hopefully see a reproduction of the selection’s winning effort over course and distance back in November. On that occasion he raced prominently beside the leader Night On Earth before leading over a furlong out and proving a length too strong for the opposition. He performed well from a wide draw last time out over six furlongs at this venue, and his handicap mark for today’s (4.45) Wolverhampton should still see him capable of winning, as he has won from a two pound higher mark back in February. He has received a kind draw in stall four, and i will be hoping he slots in nicely behind front-runners King Of Stars and Twilight Fun. Jockey Kieran O’Neill takes over from Joey Haynes and he has won three times on the Scott Dixon trained seven-year-old in the past.
