Today’s Advice

Turn Up The Beat (5f Hcap) – The selection finished ahead of the favourite for today’s (4.45) Dundalk Sam’s Xpress last time out over course and distance, and at the prices on offer looks worth a small interest. On that occasion he tried to make all from a wide draw in stall sixteen, and only found the winner Crystal Luna too good. A kinder draw in stall two today should see him use up less energy early on, and with Chris Hayes on board again should have every chance at the finish, if he can reproduce his latest effort. His profile isn’t as solid as one would like, but as a lightly raced horse there may be better to come.

Ravenglass (7f 36y Hcap) – This six-year-old was held up last time out over course and distance, which didn’t suit his free-going style. A switch to a first-time visor, and with very little pace on paper for tonight’s (6.30) Wolverhampton could see a clear passage for him to win his first race of the year. He was selected by this column back in November when racing too freely under apprentice Taryn Langley, but with more professional handling tonight from Cam Hardie he looks to have a lot in his favour, if he consents to giving his best.
