Yesterday’s Review

0.5pt e/way Silver Sword (109) – A bit more pace on than expected thanks to Hans Andersen keeping Kalidasa honest. The selection did well to hit the frame, but lacks the extra gear in the finish these days at this level. Arabian Light (112) showed the best turn of foot, and looks to be a slow burner going forward. Result 4th 25/1, 22/1 adv…20/1 SP.

1pt win Ouzo (107) – A less than urgent effort on the selection throughout most of the race. He was asked to pick up the leaders too late in the race, and was also denied a clear run through in the home straight. Another day for him.

0.5pt e/way Topper Bill (99) – A real no-show from the selection who looked to have solid form before the race, and was backed from 7/1 into 4/1 favourite. He ended up recording a time six lengths per mile slower than the figure I had in mind for him based on his latest effort, coming home a well beaten fifth. Power Mode (106) was a bit of a surprise winner having been given an easy Emirates introduction at Abu Dhabi last time out…

Today’s Advice

Bella Kopella (6f Hcap) – This five-year-old hold-up performer has been performing with credit lately over course and distance just failing by a short head to get the better of Captain Vallo on her most recent effort. On that occasion she was denied a clear run inside the final furlong before finishing well. The handicapper has left her unchanged, and apprentice Alex Jary takes a valuable three pounds off her back for tonight’s (7.00) Newcastle. She meets the winner on four pounds better terms, and providing she gets a decent pace to aim at from prominent racers Oriental Prince and Rebecca’s Girl should be in the mix at the finish.
