Yesterday’s Review
0.5pt e/way Dark Kestrel (107) – The strong pace that appeared on paper never materialised. Castan (110) was allowed to dictate a pace that suited himself with Golden Rainbow (108) merely keeping him company, and the two of them finishing in the first three. Although the race wasn’t run to suit the selection he has always been one that flatters to deceive.
Today’s Advice
MUMAYAZ (6f 16y Hcap) – This six-year-old has been in excellent form this all-weather season with two wins already on the board. A reproduction of his course and distance win two runs back from a three pound lower mark would see him in the shake-up for today’s (4.40) Southwell. As a hold-up performer he likes a bit of pace to aim at, and we will be looking for prominent racers Royal Musketeer and Northcliff to provide it. Last time out he performed with credit over six furlongs at Wolverhampton carrying a five pound penalty behind the rejuvinated One More Dream coming home in fourth place beaten a length and three quarters. Short priced favourite for today’s contest Beale Street is having his course debut today, and I am hoping that the selection’s course experience might tilt the odds more in his favour. Rossa Ryan is back on board again, having won on him at Southwell recently. Rossa has been in excellent form since returning from a break this year having ridden six winners for the Tony Carroll stable.
