MY DAY MY WAY (6f Hcap) – The (11.35) Happy Valley looks a tight enough contest with short priced favourite Power Koepp’s recent course and distance fourth looking a solid effort. I wasn’t over enthused by the main contenders, and decided to have a small interest on the outsider of the field. He only has two course and distance efforts to go on, and was unplaced in both last Autumn. His most recent effort was from the widest draw in stall eleven, and he made some late headway from the rear to be beaten just over six lengths. A recent barrier trial at Conghua showed him to be in decent shape, where he raced prominently before coming home in a close third without being asked any questions. A kind draw has been secured in stall three, and Jerry Chau takes a handy 2lbs off his back. At the prices he might be one that has been a little too overlooked.
PLENTIFUL (5f Hcap) – This five-year-old has been improving of late, and done us a favour last time out over course and distance when winning cosily. The price for today’s (1.05) Happy Valley won’t make anyone much the richer, but I am keen to stick with him until beaten. The race should be set up nicely for him with Parents’ Love and Northern Fire Ball making the running. Hopefully, he can just track the pace from his draw in stall four, and repeat his latest effort to come clear in the finish.
AURORA LADY (6f Hcap) – PC Ng’s four-year-old gelding has been different gravy over today’s course and distance, and he could easily be looking for a fifth course and distance win in a row in today’s (2.50) Happy Valley had he not just been touched off by Wings Of War in January. His early pace has been standing him in great stead lately, and he has been achieving all this with less than ideal draws. He has the plum draw in stall one today, and while recent winners like Son Pak Fu and Beauty Destiny may look to provide a sterner test, I will be looking for James Orman’s mount to continue his excellent form.
