SANDSCREENDELIVERED (4f 217y Hcap) – The (8.15) Lingfield sees a short priced favourite in the William Haggas trained Another Abbot take on seven rivals down the straight five furlongs on the turf. Results from last Saturday night showed a healthy bias towards horses that made the running on the nearside rail. The favourite raced from the rear last time out at Redcar, and he may need to be a bit quicker from the gates tonight to reward backers the way the track has been riding.
The pace looks likely to come from last time out winner Ghostman and the Chris Mason trained Solar Edge. The Dylan Cunha trained son of Dandy Man returned from a 169 day absence, and made all the running down the nearside rail (from the best draw in stall eight) to hold off the selection by a neck.
Tom Queally takes the ride again tonight aboard the Peter Crate trained three-year-old, and with a few factors in his favour he may be able to overcome that neck deficit from the last day. On that occasion he raced in midfield and made good headway from a furlong out before closing down the winner near the line. His reopposing rival has the worst of the draw tonight in stall one, meets the selection on a pound worse terms and there is the possibility of a “bounce” being back out 14 days after his seasonal debut.
The son of Bated Breath is still lightly raced and learning the ropes, and if horse and rider can be a bit more streetwise tonight they should go close to at least reversing form with the Dylan Cunha trained three-year-old.
