Yesterday’s Review
0.5pt e/way Cordouan (100) – A solid enough performance from the selection who was well backed during the day. He struggles to find the winner’s enclosure and probably prefers a bit of better ground these days. Result 3rd 16/1, 14/1 adv…7/2F SP (Rule 4 30p)
0.5pt e/way Showhound (90) – No comment…
0.75pt e/way Copacabana Sands (115) – Unfortunately, the withdrawal of the favourite Comanche Brave due to the ground change resulted in a large Rule 4 reduction. This improving filly relished the rain that fell and sprinted clear of her field when asked to quicken in the home straight. She will be rested now, and an Autumn campaign will be the plan. Result 1st 7/1 adv…11/2 SP (Rule 4 40p).
0.5pt e/way Norwalk Havoc (104) – This four-year-old took up the running two furlongs from home but weakened into sixth place at the finish. He will appreciate the return to further, and better will be expected going forward.
0.75pt e/way Pink Oxalis (102) – The filly weakened quickly when asked to quicken in the home straight, and this was a long way from her best form. The winner Shaool (114) was a revelation in the ground bounding away from the field, and will be one to keep an eye on in similar conditions.
Today’s Advice
POWERFUL NATION (5f Listed) – This three-year-old son of Sioux Nation looks to have plenty in his favour for tonight’s (6.30) Cork following a lovely seasonal return at Naas behind Bucanero Fuerte. He raced prominently behind the leaders, and had to wait for a gap to appear before running on well down the outside to finish a length and three quarter behind in second. He had one of today’s rivals in Gutsy Girl in behind, and as a past course and distance winner he looks to have a favourite’s chance tonight.
Dangers include Songhai who may appreciate the return to further, and Magnum Force who has a Group 1 penalty to carry.
1pt win Powerful Nation (9/4 General) 6.34 Cork
