Yesterday’s Review
0.75pt e/way Patontheback (93) – The selection was forced to make his own running, as there was little pace on, and that’s not his preferred running style. He weakened inside the final furlong, and should do better when he has a bit of pace to aim at.
1pt e/way Epidavros (100) – The selection could have done with a bit more pace on during the race, but travelled best into the race and took up the running over a furlong from home. She came off a straight line when put under maximum pressure, and was headed near the finish. It looked to me like she threw this win away. Result 2nd 4/1 adv…100/30 SP.
Today’s Advice
DISTINCTION (9f Hcap) – This seven-year-old looked in great form seven days ago at Pontefract over ten furlongs under today’s jockey PJ McDonald when travelling sweetly throughout the race before quickening clear at the finish in the manner of a horse ahead of his handicap mark. He had another of today’s rivals We Still Believe in behind, and a review of the race would make it hard to see the runner-up reverse the placings for today’s (5.25) Carlisle.
The selection has plenty of winning form on Soft going, so should be comfortable on the advertised going. He looks to have few weaknesses for today’s contest and warrants an interest at the prices.
GHOSTMAN (5f 21y Hcap) – This three-year-old was impressive two runs back when making all on the favoured near side rail at Lingfield on seasonal debut under Josephine Gordon. He had the worst of the draw , and the dreaded “bounce” factor to contend with next time out, and I will be hoping he makes all the running in tonight’s (6.00) Windsor under Sean Levey.
He looks a few points bigger than I would have him looking at the betting for tonight’s contest providing he is back to himself.
