Yesterday’s Review

1pt win Rayif (106) – A bitterly disappointing performance from the selection who never looked threatening. The 1400m distance at Longchamp has been known to be a lot less than advertised and prominent racers enjoyed an advantage over the New Course on the day. Puerto Rico (111) really enjoyed this test and posted a career best timefigure.

1pt e/way Aventure (111) – The advertised Very Soft ground looked a long way off what the Good to Soft winning times on the day were saying. The first three home occupied stalls one to three, and once again a low draw seemed to be a massive advantage. The selection would have enjoyed much softer conditions, but even accounting for that she proved disappointing. Another Arc De Triomphe where the three-year-olds were the ones that came to the fore with Daryz (119) just getting the better of Minnie Hauk (118).

1pt win One Look (110) and 0.5pt e/way Royal Dress (104) – The Barnavara/One Look formline from The Curragh looked strong before the race, and it so it proved. Jockey Shane Foley rode a masterful race on the winner Barnavara (111) who enjoyed a relatively uncontested lead as the other front-runner Qilin Queen could never get to grips with the winner. James Doyle’s mount was just held by a neck at the line after having to switch inside in the home straight. The race wasn’t run to suit Royal Dress who probably left her best behind at Chantilly two weeks ago as well.
