Starsoftheclock Friday 10th October 2025 Selections And Review

10th October, 2025 @ 9:33am

1pt win Rascal Recknell (106) – Another solid effort from the selection who just found one too good on the night. He pulled hard, as he sometimes can, but was still able to finish to good effect. It was a length below his latest winning form. There should be another win in him going forward this winter.

Today’s Advice

JANNAS JOURNEY ( 7f 192y Hcap) – When this filly put up a (113) timefigure under 9st 13lbs at Ayr back in August off a handicap mark of 62 (having won her previous three races) many clock watchers eyebrows would have been raised. She has since won another three races and a (111) timefigure last time out at Hamilton would suggest that she is still not finished for the season.

She slips into today’s (1.30) York off a lovely weight near the bottom and jockey Cam Hardie has already won on her at Musselburgh this season. There doesn’t appear to be many out and out front runners with just Northern Express looking likely to set the pace. She has made the running in the past but from a nice draw in stall three she should be ridden in touch with the pace, and from there we will see if the master trainer Jim Goldie can find more improvement from this filly.

MIGHTY MAGNUS (5f Nursery) – This Michael Dods trained two-year-old holds the top current timefigure of (103) from Hamilton on soft ground last time out when looking like he bumped into one with a nice turn of foot in Dandy Style. He can race prominently which usually helps at today’s venue, and I love the way he battles hard all the way to the line.

Good ground should hold no fears for him judging by his three length win at Ayr back in July and regular pilot Conor Beasley is on board again for today’s (3.50) York.

SPINNING DANCER (8f Hcap) – Class 6 racing would not usually be my cup of tea, but I have a lot of time for trainer Stan Moore and his work with fillies. This three-year-old put up the top timefigure of today’s (5.15) Kempton field two runs back at Wolverhampton over the extended mile. She raced in midfield on that occasion, before coming home well to be beaten just a length and a quarter.

Kieran O’Neill takes the ride again and she can be forgiven her latest effort at Bath when the saddle slipped in an apprentice handicap. Hopefully with past experience of this track under her belt she can put in a solid display from a lowly handicap mark.
