Today’s Advice
ELDRICKJONES (7f Hcap) – The (5.15) Newcastle looks like a race to get involved with as the short priced favourite Unassuming is returning from a 45 day break and has yet to win over today’s distance.
The selection is a three times course and distance winner and showed a bit more recently in a hot race at Southwell. Although only finishing in seventh place he was only beaten three and a half lengths and recorded and identical (109) timefigure to his win on seasonal debut back in May while carrying a stone more. He raced away from where the action was on that occasion but kept on well from the rear. The handicapper has dropped him two pounds for that effort and he should be much more comfortable back at today’s venue.
Jockey Jonny Peate takes the ride today, and he has won twice on the horse previously. The Roger Fell stable has had just four winners since October so it will be interesting to see how this six year-old performs back at his favourite track.
ARDADDY (7f Hcap) – The (6.15) Newcastle looked a one horse race on recent form with the selection’s (105) timefigure over seven furlongs at Southwell last month following a 206 day break topping the chart. There has been plenty of money for the new favourite Sherlock who we haven’t seen in 61 days and who failed to spark with the recent application of blinkers.
The selection has to transfer his recent improvement to tonight’s venue but I am willing to give him the opportunity to do so considering he is so lightly raced and has a bit of experience racing at Newcastle. Ollie Stammers takes the ride again and his experience should help the prominent racing three-year-old.
0.5pt e/way Eldrickjones (9/2 William Hill, Ladbrokes, Coral) 5.15 Newcastle (those who can avail of four places at Paddy Power, Unibet,Bet365, Skybet should do so)
0.5pt e/way Ardaddy (9/2 William Hill, 4/1 general) 6.16 Newcastle
