Yesterday’s Review

0.5pt e/way ZF Almuzn (54) – The selection coped very well with the drop back to 7f and was quickly away from the stalls to track the leader. He travelled nicely and took up the running approaching the final furlong before putting 3.5 lengths on the field. A very consistent horse, things will get more difficult though going forward with his new mark likely to be close to 90 now. Result 1st 9/1 adv…10/1 SP.

Today’s Advice

FOREST GUNNER (5f Hcap) – I prefer to keep form over the straight five furlongs at Southwell to that course and distance and with that in mind the selection should appreciate returning to the only track he has won at. I awarded him a (101) timefigure when winning a low grade handicap here back in October from a 3lb lower mark, and a reproduction of that that should see him competitive with other course and distance winners such as Arlington.

His main problem lately has been racing too keenly but perhaps returning to a straight track might help him. He looks the right price for a sporting interest on a day that I saw very little solid opportunities.
