Yesterday’s Review
0.75pt e/way Justcallmepete (104) – The selection looked laboured throughout the contest and was 4 lengths per mile slower than his recent course and distance victory over Tyger Bay. He made some late headway from the rear but this was some way short of his recent best.
Today’s Advice
THE CAMDEN COLT (8f Hcap) – This five-year-old caught the eye last time out at Jebel Ali when returning from a 286 day break over a 7f trip that would have been on the sharp side. He travelled like a dream throughout and took up the running over three furlongs from home before only giving way inside the final furlong. The (109) timefigure recorded was very strong and it looks like the best is still to come from this course and distance winner. Champion jockey Tadhg O’Shea maintains the partnership for today’s (5.00) Meydan and a kind draw in stall 2 should ensure a smooth trip round.
His main danger appears to be the George Scott trained Force and Valour who struggles to lay up with the early pace but finishes his races off strong as he did when winning by 2 lengths from Laasudood last time out over course and distance. The (107) timefigure is a couple of lengths short of the selection’s best but he is still improving and will provide a stern test if he can finish off his race as he has been doing.
IMPRESSIVE ACT (8f Hcap) – The (5.35) Meydan looks to revolve around the Charlie Appleby trained short priced favourite Ruler Of Time who has been put in at a lowly handicap mark of 88. If he could reproduce his past turf form when runner-up to Gewan as a two-year-old he would be very difficult to beat. However, the price looks short enough and I can let him win at the prices on offer. The selection recorded a decent (107) timefigure when winning from the rear over 7f at today’s venue last time out. He snuck through on the inside in the home straight and won going away by three quarters of a length from Breakdancer. The handicapper has put him up 5lbs for that performance from two weeks ago and he looks to enjoy the turf a lot more than the dirt as he was following up a wide margin win over 6f at Abu Dhabi. The step up to the mile today should be well within his compass as his pedigree has plenty of stamina on the dam side. His dam has already bred a mile winner and her dam was a 9.5f winner at Folkestone back in 2007.
