Today’s Advice

LUCKY MCQUEEN (6f Hcap) – The (11.10) Happy Valley looks an interesting contest with the short priced favourite The Heir drawn on the inside with hardly any early pace in his recent profile and a 1-27 career record. Finding a solid alternative is no easy task at this level but the selection has bits and pieces of form that warrant a small interest in him. A three quarter length second to Cool Boy back in December over 6f at Sha Tin looks stronger now that the winner has won twice since. Throw in the fact that Speedy Smartie, Vulcanus and Majestic Valour have all won since and we should be expecting him to look competitive today from a 2lb higher mark. He could only manage an eighth place next time out from the rear in a race that favoured the front-runners but has since posted two solid efforts over 7f recently behind Turin Champions and Aeroinvincible. Last time out he raced in touch of the all-the way winner when finishing fourth of fourteen beaten 3 lengths in a Class 4 contest and should appreciate the drop into Class 5 company this morning.

A wide draw in stall 10 makes things slightly difficult for him and Matthew Poon will have to navigate a decent trip from that position on the drop back in distance. He was the only selection today for me at the right price but because of his draw and the drop back to sprinting stakes will be kept low on what looked a difficult card at Happy Valley.
