0.5pt e/way Atmosphere (98) – Despite the slow early pace the two form horses came to the fore from midfield positions as the favourite Final Night (99) had a length to spare over the selection at the line. It was another fine effort from George Wood’s mount and there should be another win in him going forward. Result 2nd 13/2 adv…11/2 SP.
Today’s Advice
HEAVENLY HEATHER (6f Hcap) – The (6.30) Newcastle looks like a race worth getting involved in as the short priced favourite Fast Track Harry has yet to race at tonight’s venue. He won nicely on seasonal debut over 6f at Lingfield by a neck from Ferrous in a similar contest but his profile suggests that he may struggle to reproduce that effort.
The selection has been a star for connections and her (115) timefigure over course and distance last November behind Germanic has been well advertised by her having won twice since. Three other individual winners have also come out of the race in Germanic, The Caltonian and Stratusnine. She kept on all the way to the line from the rear on that occasion to go down by 1.5 lengths under tonight’s pilot Barry McHugh. She recorded another solid (113) timefigure when finishing less than a length behind Fahrenheit Seven over the minimum trip last time out at tonight’s venue. There looks to be plenty of pace in the race and she should give another solid account of herself once again.
BLUE LAKOTA (5f Hcap) – Similar comments could be made about the (7.30) Newcastle where short priced favourite nine-year-old Juan Les Pins’ better days may be behind him. He has dropped down the handicap ratings and hasn’t won in nearly three years so he does look a short enough price despite only going down by a short head to Beale Street last time out.
The Kevin Ryan trained four-year-old has already won over tonight’s course and distance and I awarded him a career best (111) timefigure last time out at Newcastle when finishing third over 6f having raced prominently and only went down by just under a length to Grant Wood. The strength of that form has been highlighted by the winner and runner-up going in again since and with a course and distance win already under his belt he should appreciate the drop back to the minimum trip. The handicapper has left him alone for that performance and a reproduction should see him go close again tonight.
1pt win Heavenly Heather (9/2 Paddy Power, Betvictor, Betfred, Boylesports) 6.30 Newcastle
1pt win Blue Lakota (5/2 general) 7.30 Newcastle
