Today’s Advice
PIXIE DIVA (5f Hcap) – The handicapper has dropped this filly a pound for her latest performance at Ascot in a hot handicap where she was drawn away from the action and there was a high draw bias. Drawn in the middle of the track in stall nine for today’s (3.37) Thirsk we will be hoping for plenty of pace from the likes of Castan and Curious Rover to take her into the race. She looks like five and a half furlongs would be her ideal trip going forward but she is well handicapped at the minute and warrants an interest.
WOODSTOCK (7f Hcap) – This six-year-old had been going close towards the back end of last season and he should really be winning sooner rather than later as he is currently 7lb below his last winning mark. He put up a decent return effort on seasonal debut in a strong course and distance handicap last time out. He finished behind Murashah on that occasion in seventh place beaten 5.75 lengths while recording a (109) timefigure having raced in touch of the leaders. Joanna Mason is back on board for today’s (5.25) Thirsk and the Ruth Carr stable have been in very good form lately with 73% of their runners performing to their expected level according to the Racing Post trainer stat.
COYY (6f Hcap) – This three-year-old caught the eye last time out at Windsor over the minimum trip when not getting a clear run through from the rear on two occasions before showing a decent turn of foot to get up on the line. The handicapper could only raise him 4lb for winning by a head and he looks to be a horse going forward at the moment. The Eve Johnson Houghton stable have hit a bit of form this month with Night In Vegas and Valkyrie Storm winning recently. Tonight’s (7.08) Doncaster will be a good opportunity for Callum Hutchinson who has been quiet since April with just one winner having started the new year well with 11 winners up to the end of March.
