Yesterday’s Review

1pt e/way Woodstock (108) – Another solid performance on the clock from the selection as this race was the fastest on the card. He tracked the leaders but weakened near the finish when asked to find more before scraping home for fourth place. He has been a bit frustrating lately and he will probably be worth one more chance going left handed in a weaker race. Result 4th 10/3, 3/1 adv…3/1f SP.

1pt e/way Caviar Cowboy (103) – The selection raced in touch with the leaders and took up the running over a furlong from home. It looked like he was going to prevail, having hit 1/5 on in-running on the betting exchange, but was just headed near the line. He finished runner-up, beaten a half length, and it was a bit disappointing he couldn’t get the job done. Perhaps he is the type that doesn’t want to be in front too far from home. Result 2nd 4/1 adv….4/1 SP.

Today’s Advice

CASHELDALE LASS (9f 210y Hcap) – This four-year-old filly clocked the top timefigure of today’s contestant’s for the (4.52) Fairyhouse last time out at Leopardstown when finishing a head behind Diamond Exchange. She raced in touch of the leaders on that occasion and kept on all the way to the line under 5lb claimer Patrick McGettigan. The handicapper has put her up 3lb for that performance and she looked a little unlucky not to get her head in front. That was only 13 days ago and we will be hoping that she has recovered from those exertions. Fairyhouse is a unique challenge in itself but it is reassuring that she has won going right-handed in the past. With a bit of pace on up front, and if she is in the same mood, she should go close today.

WHERE LOVE LIVES (5f Lst) – The two-year-old division has always been one of interest for timing analysts as it can be so diverse and improvements can be made quite quickly between races. I have awarded this two-year-old the top timefigure of the season so far at (109) for his win at Thirsk last month. The runner-up Hickory Lad has won since and performed with credit from a disadvantageous draw at Chester. A similar scenario looks to be in play for tonight’s (5.42) Sandown with the Kevin Ryan trained two-year-old drawn out in stall 8. There is also the 48 day absence to consider and we can see that only a minimum stake should be played.

He made all the running at Thirsk and with plenty of opposition for the lead today it will be interesting to see where he lands when the stalls open. Kevin Stott is on board once again and it will be fascinating to see if the selection can reproduce his previous effort. It looks like his target will be the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot which the stable won in 2011 with Bapak Chinta and he could be worth a small interest ante-post for that contest at a double figure price.
