Starsoftheclock Friday 29th May 2026 Selections And Review

29th May, 2026 @ 9:24am

1pt win Casheldale Lass (94) – The selection found nothing in the straight when asked and it is likely she had not recovered from Leopardstown 13 days ago. A performance to put a line through.

1pt win Where Love Lives (97) – Nothing went right for the selection and he still won this Listed contest nicely. He didn’t come out of the stalls very well, and went to his left, while he also had to use up petrol to get across closer to the far side rail. Approaching the path late on he took a skip over that, which couldn’t have helped his cause, but still had enough in the tank to hold off his main rival by a half length at the line. Hopefully connections send him to Royal Ascot for the Norfolk Stakes where he is still available at 20/1. Result 1st 3/1 adv…7/2 SP.

Today’s Advice

AMEMRI (7f Hcap) – This six-year-old mare has been a revelation for the David Marnane stable having won 10 races so far and judging by her latest performance there is plenty more to come. She found Monvoe just over a length too strong at Limerick in a slowly run race over the extended mile last time out. A wide draw in stall 10 wouldn’t have helped matters and the ground was riding plenty soft enough on the day. That rival has come out and won again since at Leopardstown and the daughter of Time Test currently finds herself 4lb below her last winning handicap mark on turf. A decent draw in stall 8 should help her cause for today’s (5.40) Down Royal and she looks one of the more reliable runners in the field.

QUEEN OF NEWARK (7f Hcap) – The (6.15) Down Royal is also a lower grade event than I normally get involved in. However, this three-year-old filly put in a career best timefigure of (97) on the clock over the extended 7f at Roscommon 11 days ago when finishing third behind Mo Anam Chara, which puts her at the top of the table for tonight’s latest performances. She raced prominently on that occasion and took up the running five furlongs out. She was headed over a furlong from home and should appreciate the drop back to 7f tonight. The handicapper has put her up 6lb for that performance and a reproduction of that should see her in the mix at the finish of tonight’s contest. Trainer Matthew J Smith is still looking for his first winner on the flat for 2026 from 11 runners but went close with Cozone over hurdles recently at Limerick.
