Yesterday’s Review
0.5pt e/way Pearled Majesty (117) – A very strongly run French Derby and there was no hiding place for any of the contestants. The selection raced a bit too keen in behind the leaders and had every chance over a furlong from home before weakening into ninth place beaten 5 lengths. A drop in class looks needed.
1pt win Komorebi (117) – I would have liked to have seen more of an aggressive effort to obtain a position at the start from jockey William Buick as he landed in 13th place after a furlong and four wide from stall 7. His race was effectively over at that stage and it looks like he will be better back over the mile.
Today’s Advice
MARQUESSOFANGLESEY (8f 142y Mdn) – This three-year-old was noted finishing best over 7f at Southwell last month in behind Ay Up Duck and recent impressive winner Red Spells Danger. The (107) timefigure was strong and although he has an odds-on William Haggas rival in opposition, who has mixed it with higher rated rivals this season, he looks worth an interest at the odd on offer. The 39 day absence is a few days longer than I would have liked to see him away from the track so the stakes will be kept low. Apprentice Harry Vigors, who won on Song Of The Stars at Lingfield last week, takes a handy 7lb off his back for tonight’s (8.00) Wolverhampton and it will be disappointing if he can’t make the frame at least.
