CHALK MOUNTAIN (7f Hcap) – This six-year-old caught the eye last time out at Kempton when not getting the clearest of runs through under 7lb apprentice Alfie Redman. He found himself too far back in the early part of the race and was denied a clear run on more than one occasion in the home straight before running on well at the finish. Rated just 1lb above his last winning mark the past course and distance winner should get a nice tow into the race behind front-runner Master Richard aided by other prominent racers Dublin Bay and Haaderr.
Hector Crouch takes the ride for tonight’s (7.00) Southwell and everything looks in place for a solid performance. There are unexposed types in opposition like Mr Noble, but at the prices I was happy to give the Zoey Hawkins trained gelding another chance.
