Starsoftheclock Tuesday 1st September 2026 Selections And Review

Yesterday’s Review

1pt e/way Joga Bonito (110) – It was right to take on the short priced favourite Ruler’s Control (105) who failed to place. The selection broke well and tried to make all the running, as he did last time out. Unfortunately. Wesley Joyce aboard Lars Soldier also wanted the lead and the pair of them engaged in a speed duel at 40 – 42mph for the first two furlongs. This was enough to soften up the selection for the finish where he was barely headed on the line and looked a mightily unlucky loser. The price moved at the time of writing. Result 2nd 3/1 adv…7/4f SP.

0.75pt e/way Nathema (95) – The selection was sluggish from the stalls and was settled in rear. However, it was the ride from Andrew Slattery from there that deserved the wrath of the Irish Stewards with regards to Rule 212 and achieving the best possible placing. Despite the leaders racing at 34mph for most of the contest there looked to be very little urgency to make up ground from last place three furlongs from home. It looked like the pilot had accepted the race hadn’t gone the way he would have liked and he only got serious a furlong from home when the leaders were well gone keeping on into 7th place beaten 10.25 lengths.
