Yesterday’s Review
1pt win Athmad – supported into 9/2 and fancied to run a big race the selection could only manage a disappointing 7th. The early pace was unfavourably slow, with a lot of horses racing keenly, before Intervention took up the running. That injection of speed gave a bit of hope for Athmad followers, however racing three wide and accelerating into the turn was not the ideal scenario. Ultimately the damage was done before the selection came into the home straight and the response was limited. The winner Kingmania showed a nice turn of foot to win near the finish. Interestingly while the numbers didn’t suggest an overly mad pace the snapshot of the leaders below during the race is interesting. Intervention leads Chief’s Will, Candy Warhol and Athmad with Francesi on the inside in the black and white colours. They finished 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th with Francesi running a creditable second. While Kingmania won nicely it may also be worthwhile keeping an eye on Francesi as well moving forward.

Today’s Advice
Hot Team (10F 37Y Handicap) this 7-y-o gelding by Zoffany managed to win two handicaps over 10 furlongs last year for current trainer Patrick Morris. Back down to the same handicap mark of (55) today as when successful at Newcastle in August the selection also gets to carry 5lbs less with capable apprentice Gina Mangan on board. Today’s forecast going of Soft (Good To Soft In Places) should hold no fears for the selection who already has a win at Hamilton on Soft going on his CV. He is a hold up performer who needs a bit of pace to aim at and luck in running. Hopefully the likes of Ebury, Order Of St John and prominent racers Uther Pendragon and Adaayinyourlife can ensure a true test at the distance today. Hot Team had his seasonal debut run at Wolverhampton 13 days ago where his jockey reported that he was denied a clear run on numerous occasions in the finish. The overall profile of the selection suggests that he can be a difficult horse to catch right but at the prices today I am willing to have a speculative interest.
Bawaader (8F Handicap) this 8-y-o son of Dark Angel bounced back to winning form in January this year on the All-Weather for trainer Aytach Sadik. His most recent run would suggest that he is not in the best of form lately only finishing 8th, beaten 7 lengths on the Tapeta at Southwell. I am willing to give him a little bit of leeway for this run, considering he had to race wide from stall 13 that day. His last run on Turf was a creditable 2nd place finish on Soft ground off today’s handicap mark of (52) at Hamilton towards the backend of 2021. There are question marks about some of those towards the head of the betting regards today’s ground so I am happy to have a sporting interest on Bawaader at the prices today.
