Sunday 9th April 2023 Selections and Review

Yesterday’s Review

1pt win Moss Tucker – Everything went wrong for the selection from the very start. Horse and rider tried to anticipate the stalls opening and totally misjudged the start. The selection banged into the stalls while they were still closed, and was left behind in second last place when they opened. He then had to be rousted along to make up three lengths to get into the lead. While he was then able to get an uncontested lead, the damage was already done, and in these sprint races lengths given away cost even more. When asked to quicken over a furlong out he proceeded to edge slightly to the left, and was easily passed by the favourite, before weakening into 5th place. Racing TV reporter Fran Berry said before the race that he felt the selection had still to “come in his coat” for the new season. Overall we didn’t get to see the real Moss Tucker yesterday and the winner’s speed figure was a lowly (104). It will be interesting to see how the season pans out for the selection going forward.

Today’s Advice

Na Scoitear (8F 13Y Handicap) this 3-y-o son of Footstepsinthesand has ran fast times the last twice he has raced on Tapeta. Racing over 7 furlongs the selection was keen early on and needed to be pushed along around the 3 furlong from home mark before finishing out his races very well. The step up to the extended 8 furlongs looks needed now and hopefully we can get a decently run contest today.
