Today’s Advice
Numidia (8F Handicap) Another chance for Peter Lawlor’s gelding this time at the slightly shorter distance of 8 furlongs tonight at Naas (8.10). The handicapper has left him on the same mark (54) as when fourth last time at Leopardstown. Seamie Heffernan takes the ride, and he will be hoping for a decent trip from stall one. With conditions described as Soft (Soft to Heavy), similar to last time, everything looks in place for a solid performance. Stay Local is an interesting rival that I have followed in the past, who also handles conditions well, and hasn’t had the rub of the green. Her last two efforts at Killarney and Tipperary, from poor draws, are very competitive with tonight’s opposition. Stall 13 should be fine tonight and if she is fit and ready she looks overpriced.
The most interesting race of the day for me is also at Naas in shape of the 5F Listed Anglesey Lodge Stakes at (6.40). I had intended to have a little each way interest on Moss Tucker but the withdrawal of Brostaigh has reduced the place terms down to just two. Tenebrism is the short priced favourite again and will be difficult to beat. Recent six furlong Curragh winner Hurricane Ivor also joins the party to make for a fascinating contest. A small win bet on Moss Tucker without the favourite is worth an interest in the hope that he can exit the stalls better today.
