Yesterday’s Review

0.5pt e/way Nivelle’s Magic – Everything had been going smoothly for Simon Earle’s filly from stall (1) until the field straightened out rounding the home turn. Darragh Keenan’s mount had been travelling best and was poised to go and win her race. Unfortunately, Adam Farragher on the leader Compere started to drift to the left and the gap up the rail was closing. Rather than use his stick in his left hand to correct his mount, Adam used it in his right hand and Compere drifted towards the rail, and forced Darragh to take back and lose all momentum. The race was over for her at that stage and we can only put it down to bad luck and poor riding on Adam’s part. A two day ban for careless riding was administered to Adam Farragher. I would agree with George Baker on RacingTV that connections will feel a winning chance was lost.

Today’s Advice

Starting Monday (8f Handicap) Gillian Scott’s 6-y-o gelding ran a nice race from a wide draw at Limerick recently, and gets the chance to reoppose the winner on 14lbs better terms tonight at Cork (7.35). While Any Dream Will Do won nicely after blowing the start that day, there is the question of can she reproduce that performance? On these better terms tonight and with a slightly better draw it might be worthwhile chancing the son of Raven’s Pass off a lowly handicap mark of (68), taking Jack Cleary’s claim into account. The selection has some decent form on tonight’s forecast going of Soft to Heavy, including his two career wins. First time cheekpieces are applied tonight and hopefully they can bring out a bit more improvement.
