Yesterday’s Review
1pt e/way Spirited Guest – A chance was taken at the prices with this horse even though we know he sometimes struggles to put together long runs of consistency. George Margarson’s gelding was a little bit keen early on, as were a few of the others including the winner. However, when asked for a response when the pace quickened nothing was forthcoming. Tom Queally was looking down inside the final furlong to see if something was amiss. In these instances the jockey should be reporting to the stewards that the horse ran flat.
Today’s Advice
Yaaser (8f 68y Handicap) Jim Goldie’s 5-y-o gelding finds himself dropped 3lbs to a handicap mark of (73) for todays Class 3 Handicap at Hamilton (5.15). He now finds himself just 2lbs above the mark he won a Class 3 Handicap at Doncaster from last year over 7f on a sound surface. He also won over the mile at Ayr in 2022 beating one of today’s rivals Ravenglass by 1.5L. He is now 10lbs better off with that rival. The key to the horse is Good going and with the ground drying out and a decent going stick reading of (6.8) he looks overpriced at double figure odds today. His current wellbeing needs to be taken on trust due to recent efforts on a Soft surface and there doesn’t seem to be loads of pace on today for a hold up performer. I am still willing to have a small interest at today’s prices.
