Yesterday’s Review
1pt e/way Not Too Real Bad (102) – Changing ground conditions to Yld/Soft which were riding 16.5L per mile slower than standard more than likely didn’t suit the selection. She still ran an honest race to finish fourth for the few that were on the extra place, but will go down on the account as a loser. A slow start from the stalls and not getting the clearest of runs through at the finish didn’t help her cause. Hopefully connections can find a decent ground race for her soon.
1pt e/way Wilderness (93) – The selection couldn’t confirm the form with the eventual winner Crescent Lake from the last day at Salisbury. It looked like she didn’t enjoy Goodwood and will be better back at Salisbury.
1pt e/way Golden Days (85) – A huge drop in performance from her (101) speed figure at Roscommon. I wouldn’t use the ground as an excuse as she was a solid fourth at the track on Heavy ground behind Born Invincible last September. There was no doubt that her recent effort was the best piece of form on offer as she was backed from 13/2 in the morning into 11/4f.
Today’s Advice
Jewel Maker (8f 177y Hcap) Tim Easterby’s gelding gets another chance to show how unlucky he was at Beverley lto in today’s (4.50) York. The handicapper has left him on the same mark and he is still 2lbs below his last winning mark from August 2022 at Haydock. Prominent racers Mostawaa and Siam Fox should ensure a decent pace to aim at.
Abate (6f Hcap) Adrian Nicholls’ horses are in a rich vein of form at the moment and this 7-y-o prominent racer attempts to land a hat-trick in today’s (5.25) York. The selection has built up a nice partnership with Adrian’s daughter Mia, who was on board for the last two wins and takes a valuable 7lbs off. Just 1lb above his last winning mark of (80) at Newmarket last June, he is still favourably treated. It could be argued that smaller fields are preferred to today’s but he has won twice in fourteen runner fields.
Motasaleeta (7f Hcap) Nikki Evans’ recently claimed filly holds the top speed figure (100) for tonight’s (8.25) Leicester. She recorded this lto over this C/D in a Claimer for Marco Botti. The question is can she reproduce that effort? She has been getting backed in the market and is just enough of a price to warrant an interest.
