Thursday 22nd June Selections and Review

22nd June, 2023 @ 9:06am

Yesterday’s Review

1.5pts e/way Adelaise (103) – A slowly run contest with nineteen tightly grouped runners was never going to suit the selection, who did very well to make up about ten places in the home straight. The winner and second came down the outside with a clear run which looked significant. Result 4th 8/1 adv…SP 7/1

1pt e/way Dunum (89) – A rare poor effort from Wayne Lordan’s mount who could only manage 24th of 30 beaten 19.25L, and the first time he has been out of the first four in over two years.

1pt e/way Dual Identity (100) – The selection was coming with what looked a decent run in the final  three furlongs, but apart from the winner the first eleven horses all raced on the opposite side of the track. He hasn’t been finishing his races off well enough despite his luck with the draw.

1pt e/way Majestic – Non Runner.

1pt e/way World Of Darcy (95) – A real step back in form for the selection who did look a big price at 16/1 on his form behind Norfolk Stakes favourite Elite Status eventually going off at 5/1. A step up in trip looks needed now.

Today’s Advice

HEY WHATEVER (12F Maiden) – Noel Meade’s 3-y-o filly was noted running on well down the outside from a bad draw at Gowran Park over the extended 9f lto after a 58 day break. The step up in trip to 12f for today’s (4.40) Leopardstown looks needed, and she could outrun her current odds.

FASTMAN (7f 48y Handicap) – John McConnell’s 7-y-o has posted two solid back to back efforts on Turf recently over a mile at this venue, and tries the extended 7f trip in today’s (5.45) Leopardstown. The prominent racer ran a very nice race lto from a wide draw in stall (18), and may appreciate the drop in class tonight. Apprentice Siobhan Rutledge takes 5lbs off his back again, and hopefully there will be enough pace on from the likes of Maggie and Me and Punk Poet to enable him to show his best.

ATBAY (9f Handicap) – Mark Fahey’s lightly raced 4-y-o has been dropped to a career low handicap mark of (53) for tonight’s (7.20) Leopardstown after catching the eye lto at Listowel over the mile when not getting the clearest of runs and running on well at the finish. The extra furlong and decent draw In stall (5) should help tonight, and it shouldn’t be too long before he breaks his maiden tag.
