Yesterday’s Review
0.5pt eway Yaaser – I was happy enough having a sporting bet on Jim Goldie’s gelding back on a sounder surface. As predicted there was no real pace in the race and the winner’s speed figure (104) was 3L slower than Par. With no sectional times out yet from Coursetrack, I have tried to get the best shot I could find of the field approaching the 3f point.

The winner Pisanello (6th place on the inside, black hat, yellow jacket, red bands) did well to win. However, as Danny Tudhope said in the interview he has been a frustrating character. I have landed on him a few times last year. It would have been easy to pick him on his big figure in the Thirsk Hunt Cup but at the prices, and considering he hadn’t won in 12 races, I was happy to to let him go. After his big performance behind Empirestateofmind last year at Thirsk, I was regularly saying to myself following another defeat, “How have you lost that?”…I thought Dutch Decoy (purple colours, black hat, furthest right) and On A Session (red cap, white colours) ran very well considering where they came from. Yaaser ran well up to a point but didn’t have a strong finish in him. Maybe an easier mile might suit better despite having a bit of stamina in his pedigree. I see he his back out today at Musselburgh but he has already been backed into a short enough price.
Today’s Advice
Nothing that appealed to me today at the prices.
