Yesterday’s Review
0.5pt e/way Downforce – The Hurricane Ivor formline from Cork looked a strong one, going into the race. I had yesterday’s winner running a (110) and our selection a (109) before the race. With Hurricane Ivor having disappointed three times in the past on Soft ground, it looked far from certain he could repeat that Cork effort. The betting market felt the same too with the winner going off at 10/1, and Downforce being backed from 14/1 into 15/2. Unfortunately, the selection flopped, only putting up a (103) on the clock, and the winner running a career best (116) speed figure. Exciting times lie ahead for Jessica Harrington’s son of Ivawood.
Today’s Advice
Ring Of Gold (8F Handicap) this hold up performer has been running some nice races over 7 furlongs lately, and gets the chance to step up to a mile tonight at Kempton (8.00). While his three career wins have all come over the shorter trip, he has shown in the past that a mile holds no fears for him. A replay of his run behind Baby Steps over the extended mile at Wolverhampton, last October, will show him finishing well from a dreadful draw in stall (13). His main problem is that he doesn’t do anything in a hurry and needs the front runners to go a decent pace. The run behind Satin Snake in February at Kempton, was a big effort on the clock, carrying 9st 11lbs, from a poor draw in stall (12). Runner-up Arctician has since come out and won his next two races. With keen going Double Time, Hoornblower, Two Tempting and favourite Asseessment all having raced on the pace in the past, conditions may play to his strengths. As there are plenty of lightly raced unexposed types in tonight’s contest only a small interest can be taken at Best Odds Guaranteed Only.
