Saturday 10th June 2023 Selections and Review

Yesterday’s Review

1pt e/way English Spirit – A very slowly run race where the winner Trais Fluors (92) recorded a low speed figure having dropped 22lbs since his last winning handicap mark. A more truly run race would probably have suited the selection, but the well handicapped winner won very nicely. Result 3rd 9/1 adv….SP 11/1

1pt win Freetodream – An interesting race where I had the selection running a (103) and Zoukster (102) at the weights. As it turned out Zoukster recorded a (101) and Freetodream a lowly (97). A very disappointing performance from Amanda Perrett’s gelding on the clock. For whatever reason he has performed 6L per mile slower than his Brighton effort.

1pt win Miss Upbeat – The fears about this fillie’s attitude under pressure came to light with no excuses about the draw tonight. With a perfect trip and every opportunity to put in a good performance, she put her head in the air and went backwards. I would be reaching for blinkers or visor for her next time.

Today’s Advice

Out Of Shadows (7f 37y Hcap) Marco Botti’s 3-y-o gelding recorded a very competitive (104) when winning at Wolverhampton over the extended 7f on seasonal debut in April. A third place finish next time out on ground softer than ideal at Musselburgh behind Gincident and Urban Sprawl over a mile brought a very respectable RPR of 84. His form has a solid look to it since the cheekpieces have been applied. Ben Curtis takes the ride again in the (4.10) Haydock and the 41 day absence should be no problem as he seems best fresh.

Jewel Maker (9f 207y Hcap) Tim Easterby’s gelding bounced back to form lto at Redcar behind Eetee over 10f despite not getting the clearest of runs in the home straight. Now 2lb below his last winning mark, the hold up performer should get a decent tow into the (4.25) Beverley from prominent racers Bit Of A Quirke and Kalahari Prince.

Hey Pretty (7f Hcap) Damien Wingrove’s 8-y-o gets to race off a 3lb lower mark than 8 days ago when running a very likeable seasonal debut when fourth behind the improving Chifa. With just one career win on his CV at Fairyhouse over 7f it is hoped that a similar efforrt can be produced in the (8.30) Chepstow tonight. The market seems to have underrated that last performance which is competitive on the clock with tonight’s opposition.
