Yesterday’s Review
0.75pt e/way Specified (95) – The selection lacked the early pace to take advantage of a decent draw, and refused to settle as before. Despite all that she missed out on the places by 1.25 lengths having not had a clear run in the straight. With a more positive ride earlier in the race she might have made the frame. Her racing style will always make her seem unlucky though, and she look’s best left alone for the moment.
Today’s Advice
Elyabri (10f Hcap) – This lightly raced four-year-old looked to have a nice future ahead when beating Tactical Bound by over two lengths at this venue last season over the extended nine furlongs. However, he couldn’t reproduce that form for his next three outings until last time out when returning to form over course and distance finishing a half length ahead of Mount Kosciuszko in an (80-100) handicap. He raced in touch with the leaders that day before making headway to lead over two furlongs out and keeping on well at the finish. The handicapper has only raised him 3lbs for that effort, and although today’s (4.25) Meydan is a slight step up in class, he does receive plenty of weight from his rivals. Silvestre De Sousa has been booked for the ride, and we can expect a strong ride from the saddle. Favourite and topweight Local Dynasty looks the class of the field, but his best form has been on turf so far. At the prices on offer, and providing all today’s contestants go to post the selection looks a decent price to at least make the frame if he can perform to his best level.
