Today’s Advice

KAYAAN SB (7f Hcap 3) – The selection looks the right favourite for today’s (1.30) Meydan following two solid performances over the mile at Al Ain. The handicapper has raised him 5lbs to a new mark of 89 having finished 0.71 lengths behind Azzam AH last time out while recording a (59) timefigure based on today’s weights. He raced in midfiled as he normally does on that occasion and battled all the way to the line having made his challenge over two furlongs from home. The drop back to 7f today looks worth exploring and it looks like conditions have fallen in his favour with plenty of his main rivals drawn out wide and recording inferior timefigures recently.

Prominent racer Saafeer also recorded a (59) timefigure when making all over the extended mile at Sharjah back in November but he has been drawn wide in stall 13 today and looks to face a difficult task. The selection is a lightly raced type who has yet to race at today’s venue so for that reason stakes will be kept low.

KATHAB (10f Hcap 3) – The (2.40) Meydan looks a competitive enough contest with short priced favourite War Hawk having showed plenty of ability on the dirt lately. He should appreciate the return to turf having won over 10f at Epsom last June while recording a (105) timefigure. He failed to win from today’s mark on two occasions thereafter at Newmarket and Goodwood and it may be worthwhile looking for an alternative.

The selection raced very wide last time out when just being nabbed near the line by Sean and recorded a solid (106) timefigure under Kazakhstan jockey Myrzabek Kappushev. He has been drawn in stall 10 today and if ridden with a bit more patience could go one place better.

SUBIACO (5f Hcap) – This three-year-old recorded a strong (106) timefigure last time out over course and distance when finishing a length and a half clear of An Laochmor. On that occasion he raced prominently and kept finding up the straight while racing a bit green. That was his first visit to the polytrack following a 140 day break and although the handicapper has put him up 9lbs for today’s (4.28) Dundalk he could still be well treated from a mark of just 63. Rory Cleary takes the ride and he will be looking to record his second winner of the new year following his victory on Beau Army last month.

Hasiyna returns quickly following a solid effort two days ago over 6f behind Masked Angel and the mare has struck up a successful partnership with seven pound apprentice Jessica Maye having won over course and distance back in December. However, it remains to be seen if she will have recovered from her recent exertions.
