Today’s Advice

SINDAGAN (7f Lstd) – The (6.35) Cork looks an interesting contest with Princess Child, Carolina Jetstream and LL Koulsty returning to the track after breaks of almost 6 weeks or more. The selection showed improved form at Fairyhouse in July over 7f when only finding the Irish 2000 Guineas 7th place finisher Bamako Beach too strong. A (111) timefigure was a career best and it was also a positive to see him handle a Good (Good to Firm in places) surface. He took his maiden as expected on a Yieldng surface at Galway and while he is back out quick enough 17 days later he may hold a fitness advantage over some of those at the front of the market.

BELIEVED (12F Gp3) – With very little rain around the past few months connections of those at the front of the market will be hoping that the ground has been well watered for tonight’s (7.10) Cork Give Thanks Stakes. In fairness to the venue they do a fine job with the ground but the way Nyra carried herself on a fast surface last time out at The Curragh (when a well beaten third) I was happy to look elsewhere for an alternative. The selection battled all the way to the line over 12f at Royal Ascot in the King George V handicap and lost nothing in defeat. She put in a similar performance at Gowran Park from a wide draw last time out at a track where being on the lead has proved such an advantage. She is drawn wide again in stall 8, and I will be hoping jockey Ben Coen can find a nice position for her. There looks to be plenty of prominent racers in opposition with Aidan O’Brien fielding three runners and with a bit of luck in-running she should be involved at the finish.
