Mr Stanley (92) – No response from the selection when ridden entering the home straight before coming home last, beaten 10 3/4 lengths. The performance of MR STANLEY (IRE), which finished unplaced, was considered. It was noted that Philip Kirby could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance was the quote from the Steward’s Report.
Today’s Advice
Ouzo (9f Hcap) – This eight year-old is well experienced now, and put in a career best last time out over C&D. On that occasion he overcame a wide draw, and was dropped in for luck as he normally is. He travelled like a dream throughout the race, and could always be called the winner. He had to pick his way through the field, before a nice turn of foot settled the deal near the finish. There is a temptation to go with better weighted rivals for today’s (4.25) Meydan like Silent Film or even up and comers like Laser Guided, but the selection has drifted to a decent enough price for a small interest, even knowing he will need luck in running.
Ohailbhic (6F Mdn) – The Perfect Judgement formline from the 16th January looks a decent one on the clock, and wins for Manhattan Dreamer and Tarsus have given it a boost too. Ohailbhic has to deal with two horses we haven’t seen in over 100 days, but hopefully he could enjoy a race fitness advantage over both these rivals. It looks the best performance on the surface in tonight’s field, and he warrants a sporting interest in tonight’s (6.00) Dundalk.
Coulstar (6F Hcap) – Another one taken from the Perfect Judgement race. This filly steps back up in trip for tonight’s (6.30) Dundalk after getting a little outpaced near the finish over the 5f trip at this venue last time out. Her effort behind Perfect Judgement looks the best of the field so far on the surface at this distance, although Mary Shoelaces form from last year over the minimum trip behind Scorchio could be dangerous if she were to reproduce it over tonight’s trip.
